The data costs money. If you've already checked which apps you're going to spend more time and money, you're still spending more money than you'd like to, it's time to go ahead and use apps to save data on Android.
We will start by presenting you with specially designed applications to save data (including the native Android function) and we will have a list of applications that you can use to save money.
The Android Function:
Before installing applications it is always a good idea to check if you do not already have something similar pre-installed on your mobile. And, in terms of saving data, it is most likely that it is since it is technically possible in a manual way for many years. From Nougat, however, the process is much simpler.
The Android data saving mode limits the use of data in the background and increases the frequency between requests. Do not expect a huge data saving, but if you go right in your rate ... everything helps.
1. Datally:
Datally started as a Google experiment for emerging countries like the Philippines (and under the name Triangle ), but later it was launched for everyone under its current name. Datally is in a way a hyper vitaminized version of Android's data saving, which gives you more control and more options.
In addition to helping you find Wi-Fi connections in your area, it gives you total control over which apps allow you to use data and which ones do not. To help you choose, take note of which apps you do not use and suggest you block or uninstall them. Another curious addition is a bubble in which you are shown the data that is using the app you have open.
2. Samsung Max:
Samsung had been using Opera Max on their phones as a tool to save data, so it was not much of a surprise that Samsung resurrected it after Opera left it. In Google Play it is only available for Samsung phones, although you can install it in others from your APK.
Samsung Max is a very Clean Master app (it will even advertise on the home screen if you activate Premium mode), so you should use it with care. Saving data with Samsung Max is based on blocking access to the network to certain apps as well as data compression.
This compression has a lot of small print (it does not work in encrypted data or precompressed data, for example) so that the saving is somewhat lower today than it was a few years ago, as the developers are compressing and encrypting their data.

3. Onavo Protect:
Onavo is a veteran in this data saving. It belongs now to Facebook and has moved a little more towards the area of privacy protection than data saving, although it is still a good help.
With Onavo you can easily block access to background data from any application, or completely limit access to the Internet unless a Wi-Fi connection is used. There's not much more you can do, except receive alerts when an app has passed a certain download threshold.

4. Chrome:
Much of the data consumption probably comes from your browser, and it is very possible that this is Google Chrome. This includes its own data saving mode, from Configuration - Data saving. With this mode, most of the traffic on the pages you visit goes through Google, where it is compressed before it arrives (it does not apply to secure pages or in incognito mode).
Once again, do not expect a big difference, as more and more pages use HTTPS connections, which are not affected by this data saving. In any case, it's free, you do not have to do anything and something will save you, so it does not hurt to activate it.

5. Firefox Rocket:
If you do not like Google Chrome, another browser with a data saving mode is Firefox Rocket. In Google Play it is only available in Indonesia, but you can download the APK from here. It is a mini version of Firefox that includes a turbo mode.
This turbo mode blocks ads and trackers, which is always an interesting data saving. If you want to go one step further, it is also possible to block images on any web page, with the push of a button.

The Saving Mode Of Other Apps:
Third-party applications can to a certain extent help you save data, but in the end, they are quite limited. If you want to save data considerably, it is best to use the data-saving mode specific to each application. More and more applications are including their own data saving mode. These are some of them:
- Netflix: you can activate it in Options of the application / Use of data.
- Spotify: both the normal version and Spotify lite have a Data Saving mode, in Settings.
- Instagram: reduces the use of data from Configuration / Use of mobile data.
- Facebook Messenger: from the menu / Save data you can avoid automatically downloading photos and videos.
- WhatsApp: in settings / Data and storage you can disable the automatic download of photos, audio, video, and documents if you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- Twitter: in the configuration of the application, in the Use of data you can choose if you want to play HD videos with data and whether it will play automatically or not.
- YouTube: in the settings of the application, General section, you can check Limit mobile data, which limits the quality of the video if you do not have Wi-Fi.
- Google Maps: although it does not have an official saving mode, you can activate Wifi Only, which uses the cache or offline maps.
